The One Where We Need to Look From Different Perspectives (and When We Assume, it Leads to Making an ASS of U and ME)

This was originally just posted as a comment under one of my Facebook posts. Welcoming some friendly “debates” and opinons. If anyone name calls each other or is rude to one another I will remove the comments - I don’t care if you're a troll or a friend.

I actually want to understand how people watched this and heard and saw the same thing but perceived such a different interaction.
I took it as Zelensky AGREEING with Trump who was insulting our efforts. Trump kept saying Biden did this, Biden did that - which I obviously agree with. But it seemed like things were “okay” and then Zelensky asked one question they didn’t like, then they just completely freaked out at him. And then Zelensky asked them if they’d ever been to Ukraine in order to be able to talk about what is going on there and JD stumbled over his words saying UH yeah i watched things…. WHAT??? That is literally the SAME THING “the right” had been attacking Kamala and Biden for. I get it - America first, but if someone was telling Trump that his nation had issues after someone invaded us, he would have asked the same thing, “have you ever been here to be able to tell ME what our issues are?”
I don’t see how that question set them off THAT much.
And then Zelensky said basically that we never know what’s coming WHICH IS TRUE we don’t… we are not God (although I’m starting to think Trump thinks he is with his post yesterday), we don’t know what can happen is how I took that.
And Trump flipped out saying “don’t tell us how to feel, you don’t dictate what we’re gonna feel”… but that’s not even what he was saying. He was saying what country doesn’t have problems in a war? And we have to remember that Russia completely attacked and invaded Ukraine. I also think there is a cultural and language barrier that we need to be aware of.
Listening to that like 4 times I did not think he was trying to be disrespectful at the level they flipped out at him about. It sounded like he was trying to explain himself and they just kept talking over him and mansplaining to him. I get that they needed to put him in his place while he is on our soil, but I also think THEY misunderstood a lot of what he was saying. And did we compromise and forgive Osama Bin Laden for what happened here in the US? No we didn’t. So I’m sure it’s pretty difficult at this point for Zelensky to compromise with Putin after all this time.
Trump is coming in after Biden just threw money at them for years, but didn’t actually make efforts to STOP the war so my guess is Zelensky is still a bit worried and skeptical that Putin will say he will stop but then won’t. That’s my take. I could be totally wrong but it’s how I heard the interview go from being okay to him getting totally attacked.
I just feel like we don’t want to create more problems and tension for ourselves. And this will only FUEL Putin seeing Trump walk all over Zelensky like that. Trump just inflated Putin’s ego and power in my opinion. I understand that Putin SAID back in 2022 that a peace deal could be close, and I also understand that it’s Zelensky who walked away and is a “warmonger”. I agree with and understand ALL of that. BUT I again wonder if it was us who got invaded and we were trying to compromise for peace, would we truly believe that the other party wouldn’t attack again when our guard was down.
I just don’t trust that Putin truly wants peace and that is how I assume Zelensky feels as well. Idk I just didn’t like they way they shut it down so quickly instead of trying to just talk to him a little bit more like he’s an adult male president of a country and less like how a parent talks to a toddler because we don’t need to make Ukraine into an enemy either - no matter how small or weak of a country we FEEL they are. Still humans. Still children of God.
I voted for Trump only for some of his policies and to get stuff done. But I do NOT like him at all. I also watched this after I saw the insanely narcissistic, awful golden statue post that made me want to puke. It’s like the golden calf story and he truly wants people to worship him.
I truly cannot stand him anymore.

The One Where Everyone Had a Choice

I’m sure I’ll get hate for this, but it’s the truth. I didn’t judge others for making their own personal choice, but they sure as heck judged ME and anyone who didn’t agree with them. I’m honestly starting to get more and more frustrated being four years out from when people had to choose between their jobs and the sh0t…. Saying that you “were forced” to get it truly isn’t accurate. We all had a choice. I’m a nurse. I’m also a single mom of two. I left my career to stand up for what I believe in. I’m not judging you for making the choice that you felt was best for you and your family based on information you had at the time… Even though many of YOU judged people like me for “not complying”. You possibly even called me a conspiracy theorist and told me that if I didn’t get it, I shouldn’t be a nurse anyway. But I AM saying that as a mental health nurse, I know the difference between holding someone down and forcing them to take an injection and giving them a choice with an ultimatum or...

The One Where it Matter How We React to Someone Else’s Comments or Actions

First, to everyone accusing me of not watching the full almost hour video before posting about my opinions, you obviously don’t know me very well. I absolutely watched it all before weighing in. This is another comment I made under my other post. Let me be clear. I am not saying I agree with with Zelensky. I am saying this was a “how are we going to react to his comments and actions” situation? There are ways to put someone firmly in their place while not risking losing the trust of other foreign countries. Putin now has an upper hand. I agree with those who have said that Zelensky was definitely trying to push his limits and see what he could get. Absolutely. I also think that we planned to stop helping them with money either way, yes. AND that he definitely needed to dial it back acting like we somehow HAVE to help or owe him something, etc. But I would have also not just ASSUMED that what he said was a threat - I would have tried to clarify some things with conversation and stil...

The One With the Corrections Officer Strike

As a former Corrections Nurse, I will not remain silent on the issue going on in New York State right now. Corrections Officers are taken for granted. They are forced to work 8 extra hours on an almost daily basis. *Imagine going in for a 16 hour overnight shift from 3pm to 7am and then at about 6:30am when you are "finally almost done" you are ordered to stay until 3pm the next day - for a total of a 24 hour shift that you hadn't planned on. *Imagine being the only person assigned to a cell block for your entire shift, sometimes without a break because you are short staffed. *Imagine knowing that the prisoners are accused but not yet convicted of murder, and you have no idea if they might have a shiv/shank in their cell/room that could be used on you at any given moment. *Imagine knowing that when the nurses come on the unit with another officer to give out medication, you then feel responsible for their lives, too and would never forgive yourself if you fail to keep th...
